Why Concrete?

History
The first affiliated chapter of the American Concrete Pavement Association (ACPA), the Northeast Chapter was formed in April, 1987 to promote quality concrete pavements in the 13-state Northeast quadrant of the U.S. -- from Virginia to Maine, from West Virginia to New York. In January, 2006, to better serve our members and customers, the Northeast Chapter divided into three independent Chapters which are the Mid-Atlantic, New York State, and Pennsylvania Chapters.

About the ACPA
The 105 Chapter members are contractors, material suppliers, ready mix executives, aggregate producers, affiliates, consultants, equipment suppliers, and cement company officers.

Joining the Chapter delivers multiple rewards.

First and foremost, the American Concrete Pavement Association is the leading national association representing concrete pavement contractors, cement companies, ready mix producers, equipment and material manufacturers and suppliers. ACPA is organized to address common needs, solve common problems and accomplish goals related to research, market development, design, construction and best practices of portland cement concrete pavements.

The Chapter has pavement professionals living and working on day to day regional pavement opportunities.

Chapter staff members are in daily touch with state DOT and FHWA professionals, stage regular concrete pavement workshops, bus tours and seminars, provide technical assistance and marketing initiatives-including rehabilitation-to transportation authorities, municipalities, private companies, architects and engineers.

As the local voice of the industry, the Chapter serves as the recognized force leading local initiatives on behalf of ACPA members. The Chapter is superbly positioned to impact business and market growth, identify and communicate changes and needs in the marketplace.

In addition, the Chapter provides:

  • Expert technical support programs and services in pavement technology
  • Liaison with local government agencies, legislators and affiliated organizations
  • Workshops and seminars designed to furnish the latest technical information
  • Van trips, open houses and promotion initiatives to enhance awareness of
concrete pavement products, processes and solutions
  • Expanded political involvement, marketing and public relations, publicity
and media relations initiatives including an proactive website, press materials, and aggressive direct mail programs to transportation and pavement decision-makers
  • Pavement awards programs

Mission
Working in partnership with its members , the Chapter's mission is to aggressively promote quality concrete pavements in the Northeast by educating specifiers, legislators and government officials about the benefits of the locally manufactured, environmentally responsible, safe, cost-effective pavement investment: CONCRETE.

ACPA members represent all facets of the pavement industry, including contractors, cement companies, equipment manufacturers, bonding and insurance companies and consulting firms. ACPA provides resources that assist members in market development, technical expertise, design, specifications, construction and restoration. ACPA works hard to represent and promote the concrete pavement industry in federal, state and local legislative matters affecting surface transportation.
